JCCC Fashion Show

Since I found out JCCC hosts a fashion show, I’ve always wanted to go. I have been attending JCCC for almost a year now, and I feel so proud of the talent of fellow students. Several designers who have presented their collections at the Kansas City Fashion Week have studied here, Roger Figeroa and Kiana Godsey, to name a few.

Last Friday, Will and I had the opportunity to attend the JCCC Fashion Show, and we were truly delighted. Several students were showing off their first collection; this can be an awesome experience, but it can also be kind of nerve wracking. JCCC provided a nurturing and familiar environment, which I thought was perfect. It is wonderful to give your first steps in a place where you feel supported. For other students, designing for a fashion show, was not a new experience, but they presented their collections with the same illusion and excitement.

We also got to see outfits from JCCC’s Historic Costume Collection, and dresses made by students to donate to orphan children in Uganda. At the end of the show, five designers were awarded scholarships, it was such an exciting moment!

I think JCCC is an amazing college, and their fashion program is not the exception. This is a great place for students to explore their affinity for fashion, and to develop both their creativity and technical skills.

Hope you enjoy the pictures. See you all soon!
