The Holidays Outfit

It’s the time of the year when Santa Baby and I’ll Be Home For Christmas are playing in every store you walk in. Inside, the warm tunes and the cinnamon scented air compete with the bright lights and colorful decorations from outside. Which scenario is more beautiful? It’s hard to tell.

KCFW-S/S '18

What are fashion shows all about? Is it the excitement that you feel when a model comes out wearing something fabulous, the anticipation for what will come out next, the desire to own those garments? I think it goes beyond deciding if what you are looking at is something that you would wear or not.

KCFW-Saturday Runway I

Fashion week went by so fast, we couldn't believe it was Saturday already! The last night of this season’s KCFW. We were excited to see what designers had created for the evening. In this first part, we will share the pieces designed by Michael Drummond, Tomboy, Barbara Bultman and Christian Micheal accessorized by none other than Dolyn Bags.

Plan. Dream. Live.

Plans. Plans give meaning to our lives; they give us something to look forward to. They make those long hours at work worth it. Will and I have been making plans for our near future and I couldn’t be more excited. The trick when you plan is that you also have to learn to appreciate the beauty of what life gives you. Be spontaneous, and don’t freak out if something deviates a little from the path you’ve carefully prepared.

Cold Days, Costa Rica

Choosing what to wear on a cold or windy day is always a challenge. I love pictures where clothes wave with the wind. On the other hand, if I am wearing a loose short dress or skirt, it may get very uncomfortable. On this throw back post of a trip to the Irazu volcano, I made sure I was warm by wearing booties and a sweater, and to add some movement I designed a long skirt.

Runway love-KCFW

Fashion is such an amazing thing. It is an art of individual expression; where everyone gets to be different and have her/his own style. It also tells the story of who we have been (think of the opulent dresses queens wore, the drama of punk, the simplicity of jeans) and of who we are today, together, as a community. Fashion differentiates us, but it also units us. Last Friday night at the Kansas City Fashion Week we were all united by fashion, surprise, and so much LOVE.

Chiefs of the Runway - KCFW

Last Thursday night (10/13), the Kansas City Chiefs latest fan apparel was seen in a very different field. Far away from turf and bleachers, a collection of Chiefs’ inspired-wear was showcased at the Kansas City Fashion Week. The first styles shown were a glimpse of the cheerful outfits that would follow.

Lu by Lolita

Our first contact with Lu by Lolita was during the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, where we were able to get a close view of the collection in backstage and confirmed its quality and style. We felt honored when the brand reached out to Colors of Costa Rica to invite us to their store and then pampered us with gifts! <3

Enjoying Casa Conde

As part of the prize we won through Expo Novia, Will and I had the opportunity to stay at the Casa Conde hotel at playa Panamá. The hotel is all inclusive, but during our stay they didn’t have the usual all-you-can-eat buffet. Maybe it was just because we visited during low season or perhaps they are searching to provide a more exclusive plan. Customers can order from the menu or ask for the “plat du jour”.

San José Nuestro Runway: Option 2

Facundo Cabral said: “Do what you love and you will be happy. If you do what you love, you are condemned to succeed”. I love what I do. Fashion. Designing, sewing, shopping, blogging and... modeling.

À Prusia - Old fashioned walk

The weather gets cooler as we head North on the road that leads to the Irazú volcano. We don’t drive all the way up there; we stop on the road to glance down… a beautiful view of Cartago. It’s windy, but the yellow flowers bring warmth into the picture. After that, we decide to go to Prusia. It’s “unknown territory” for us and we’re a bit doubtful about being able to get there, after reading a review that recommends a 4x4 vehicle.

Think global, act local

“Think global, act local” was designed thinking of a better world and of what we can do to improve it. I am currently competing for a scholarship with this project. If you haven’t voted, please do. You are also welcome (and encouraged) to share the link so that other people can vote too. Let’s support emerging designers! Thanks for your help.
