À Prusia - Old fashioned walk

"One day, in a far away place, I'll let flowers speak to me for an instant".

The weather gets cooler as we head North on the road that leads to the Irazú volcano. We don’t drive all the way up there; we stop on the road to glance down… a beautiful view of Cartago. It’s windy, but the yellow flowers bring warmth into the picture. After that, we decide to go to Prusia. It’s “unknown territory” for us and we’re a bit doubtful about being able to get there, after reading a review that recommends a 4x4 vehicle.

We laugh in the car (trying not to think that the rental car could break down at any time), hold our breath and finally, we make it! It’s not that bad after all! So here is were the funny story begins, and when I say funny, I mean “TERRIBLE when it happens, entertaining one month later” kind of funny.

First, look at the previous picture where I’m hanging from the tree branch like a monkey. Got it? Now look at the path, thousands of little rocks, leafs, etc. Imagine about 2 miles of that trail. Now visualize loosing something small on that same trail, where about 50 people will walk on that afternoon. “Funny” thing? Before hanging from the tree I took my ring off and gave it to Will, who put it inside his pocket. “Funniest” thing? Somewhere along the path, he pulled out the car keys and yes, the ring fell out.

The worst part was, we realized what had happened when we were about 30 minutes away from the park and they were already closed! Oh Sinatra! You sure knew life, when you sang “what a tale could be told if we went for an old fashioned walk”.

I won’t bore you with the details of the night we had, I’ll just skip to the next morning when we returned to Prusia with a clear goal: find the ring.

We asked the lady at the entrance if anyone had found a ring yesterday. She looked at us with pity and allowed us to go in without even paying the entrance fee. Less than 10 minutes later, we were hugging and kissing each other. Mission impossible: accomplished! I’m sorry if I sound like a fool in love, but I just can’t help it… When it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be!

"Let's take an old fashioned walk, I'm just bursting with talk.

What a tale could be told if we went for an old fashioned walk"…
